History of Whetstone Medical Centre
The practice has been situated at its current site since 1971 as Wirral’s first purpose built Health Centre. Two local practices merged, having been situated on Clifton Road and the surrounding area since the 1920’s. In addition to four GP’s and nurses the Health Centre brought Health Visitors, District Nurses and other primary staff together in the same building.
During 1993 brought a very major expansion of the building with a larger reception, car park, treatment rooms, office space and Jamiesons Pharmacy being added. By 2004 the six partners developed the building further with the addition of a nurses treatment area, two consultation rooms and further office space.
In 2009 the practice won the prestigious Wirral Practice of the Year for its efforts to improve services to minority groups. The practice remains committed to improving the health of its patients and offering the best possible service.
